More Click Throughs with Drupal Book Pages

I have found through personal, albeit not scientific research that visitors are more likely to click through all of the pages in a Drupal book than they are with a taxonomy "directory-style" listing.

As I (and many others) have said before, navigation is the backbone of your website. Drupal offers this unique method of navigation to handle pages of related content, such as the one you are browsing now.

The special features that the Book provides are:

  • The table of contents listing on the first page, and on every chapter page, allowing users to easily skip to content that interests them
  • The outline navigation block that appears when needed, and neatly tucks away when not being used
  • The next/previous style navigation area at the bottom of each page, which provides a user-friendly way to click through all pages in the book
